Raven-Symoné is navigating a difficult loss.
The Disney Channel shared the death of her father Christopher B. Pearman with a heartfelt post on social media.
“My life has been long and abundant,” Raven began her Oct. 1 post, which featured a throwback photo of her as a young child in her dad’s arms. “And the path I’m on started with a dream. Hope he is watching with a smile on his face…"
Raven, the oldest of Christopher and Lydia Gaulden’s two children, finished her caption with a dove emoji and a hashtag of her father’s name.
And though the That’s So Raven star didn’t share any additional details about Christopher’s passing, when a user commented asking if Raven’s caption indicated her father had died, she responded, “Yes maam.”
While Raven didn’t often speak about her dad, in 2015—shortly after she joined The View as a co-host—Christopher shared his support for his daughter in her new professional endeavor.
"Raven is a really Beautiful, Sweethearted, Human Being,” he wrote on Facebook at the time. “I should know. Her Mother and I Love her Very much and will always support her and have her back.”
And in the wake of Christopher’s passing, Raven’s loved ones showed they have her back, too.
Saturday Night Live’s Kenan Thompson commented, “Condolences to you and your family!!! Sending love!!!!” while fellow Disney Channel alum Kimberly J. Brown added, “I’m so sorry I just lost my dad too. Sending you love and prayers.”
The death of her father comes almost one year after Raven, 38, shared that her younger brother Blaize Pearman had died at the age of 31.
“He was battling colon cancer for about two years and he is in a better place now,” she shared in a Dec. 2023 Instagram post. “He's loved and missed and the emotions that have been weaving in and out of my body and mind and family, have been a roller coaster."
Raven also reflected on the bond she shared with her brother, noting their birthdays were only days apart, while thanking her community for its support.
"I love you, Blaize," she continued. "His birthday is December 16 and forever will be. I love you, guys. My family on Instagram, my family at home and my family and friends. You guys have been such an amazing support system and I love you all."
