Dallas Cowboys running back Ronald Jones II has been suspended for the first two games of the NFL season for violating the NFL’s performance enhancing drugs policy, the league announced Monday.
Jones, a newcomer to the Cowboys and a two-time Super Bowl champion, will miss games against the New York Giants (Sept. 10) and Jets (Sept. 17).
Jones can be reinstated Sept. 18, ahead of the Cowboys' Week 3 game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 24.
Despite his suspension, Jones can practice and participate in preseason games before the season begins.

Jones was a vital member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers backfield, along with Leonard Fournette, during Tom Brady’s last Super Bowl run during the 2020 season.
But Jones was buried on the depth chart behind Isiah Pacheco, Jerick McKinnon and Clyde Edwards-Helaire, during the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl win last season.
Jones, 25, was a second-round pick by the Buccaneers in 2018, and he spent his first four NFL seasons in Tampa Bay before joining Kansas City.
With the Cowboys, Jones is expected to compete for playing time behind Tony Pollard with rookie Deuce Vaughn and second-year backup Malik Davis among others.
