What a difference a year can make.
It's hard to believe that just 12 months ago, Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke were only weeks away from saying "I do." But, as Summer House fans know, that never happened.
Carl called off their wedding in August 2023 amid ongoing relationship problems and communications issues.
"The last 2 weeks have been the most heartbreaking and emotional weeks of my life," Lindsay said at the time. "My entire life and future was ripped out from underneath me and I've had a hard time making sense of it all—with no answers or closure on why."
But while the former publicist maintained she was blindsided by the breakup, Bravo viewers got a front row seat to their ultimate demise when Summer House season eight aired earlier this year. And reliving the drama was admittedly brutal on both parties, who shared very different views about parting ways.
However, today the exes have fully moved on and are in completely different stages of their lives.
In fact, Lindsay has found love again and is pregnant with her first child, a girl, who is due this December.
Meanwhile, Carl is taking a break from dating and is solely focused on his new passion: Opening a sober bar in NYC.
And some fans might be surprised by how the exes are coexisting while filming season nine this summer.
"It's actually been fine," costar Paige DeSorbo exclusively told E! News earlier this month. "I think because they were friends for so long, it's not as hard as I think people thought it was going to be for them to coexist. Obviously there's been a few things, we've definitely had some drama in the house. It wouldn't be us if we didn't, but it's been pretty chill."
Keep reading for a full recap of everything that's happened since Carl and Lindsay broke up one year ago, what they've said about the shocking split and to see where they stand today.
In August 2023, news broke that Carl Radke had called off his engagement to Lindsay Hubbard just two and a half months before they were supposed to get married.
The breakup came almost exactly one year after the Summer House costars got engaged in the Hamptons.
Lindsay spoke out for the first time two weeks after her ex called off their wedding.
"I would like to start by saying thank you for allowing me the space and time to process my emotions, heal, and grieve the loss of not only my relationship, but my friendship with someone I considered my best friend for 8 years," the former publicist shared in a Sept. 14 Instagram statement. "The last 2 weeks have been the most heartbreaking and emotional weeks of my life. My entire life and future was ripped out from underneath me and I've had a hard time making sense of it all - with no answers or closure on why."
The Bravolebrity admitted she felt "heartbroken" and "humiliated," adding, "This was not my decision, and I do not agree with quitting a relationship (at this level) without trying everything possible first."
After two months of healing, Lindsay's costar Danielle Olivera shared an update on how her longtime BFF was doing post-split.
"She's way better, we're on the up and up," Danielle exclusively told E! News. "It was really sad for a bit, she wasn't really leaving her apartment. But I think she's got some trips under her belt now. I just can't wait till we get to the point where she's single Lindsay, where she's out there and we get to go out and paint the town red. She's getting back out there, slowly but surely."
Meanwhile, Kyle Cooke revealed around the same time what he believed to be the root of their problems.
"It's no secret that they've been in constant couple's therapy ever since they basically started dating," he told E!. "It's almost like they couldn't even communicate anymore without a third party and Carl was like, 'That is not how I'm gonna spend the next 50 years of my life."
Mere weeks before their wedding that wasn't, Lindsay shared shocking new details about their breakup chat and accused Carl of orchestrating an on-camera breakup to make for good TV for season eight of the Bravo series.
"It would've been one thing if this conversation happened over the summer during the normal filming schedule," she told Us Weekly last November. "But for him to call up producers and then set up cameras and manipulate me into sitting down after we'd already wrapped is scary. The whole world found out within 30 minutes of me."
Lindsay also maintained she was blindsided by her former fiancé's decision, but noted, "It was literally the last two weeks of summer that his demeanor and tone changed. There was a lot of combativeness and aggression on his end, and I was very confused."
Carl finally told his side of the story for the first time at BravoCon 2023 in Las Vegas.
"It's been a very, very difficult time," he told E! News. "I really feel like BravoCon is a good chance for me to come out, hold my head high, try and move forward with respect, because I wanna live my life and move on."
Carl also addressed Lindsay's accusation about planning to break up with her on camera.
"No, I don't decide when production picks up cameras," he said. "Our summer was very up and down. The way things were the last couple weeks, it was very apparent to producers the way things were ending. It was like, 'How could you be getting married in a few months?'"
While also at BravoCon, Lindsay confirmed she would never, ever reconcile with her costar, telling E! News, "Hell no!"
Lindsay also shared she was "doing well" after having several months to recover from the shock.
"The first month was pretty brutal and then I went on my bachelorette trip with all my girls who rallied behind me and we celebrated our sisterhood," she noted. "Then I just put one foot in front of the other and gained momentum and confidence and strength and I am in a really good place."
Lindsay seemingly trolled her ex when she was spotted grabbing dinner with The Challenge's Johnny Bananas in NYC on the exact weekend she and Carl were supposed to get married.
Despite sparking romance rumors, the two reality stars maintained they are just friends.
Six months post-split, Carl revealed the real reason why he still wasn't dating again.
"I do want to have a family and I do want to settle down, but who you get married to is one of the most important decisions you ever make," he told E! News. "So, I'm going to take some time and heal. I'm going to focus on myself."
Plus, his and Lindsay's relationship issues and dramatic breakup still hadn't played out on TV.
"I think that person will come, but I'm not rushing or looking because there's still some emotional attachment," he added. "Rewatching it on TV and pursuing a new relationship while some of this is still brewing, to me that doesn't feel appropriate to open my heart to something else when I'm just not there yet."
Fans watched the former couple's relationship implode during season eight of Summer House with Lindsay even accusing Carl—who is three years sober—of being on cocaine during one of their many explosive fights.
"My heart's racing as I say this and I'm shaking from it because it's beyond hurtful," Carl reacted in a confessional during the Feb. 29 episode, "it's f--ked up and that's the person I'm supposed to marry? It pains me deep down the accusation or insinuation that I'm on something. That kills me."
Lindsay later issued a sort of-apology on social media saying, "I wish I had used better wording."
It was the moment everyone had been waiting for: Carl finally sat Lindsay down to talk about their relationship issues during Summer House's May 30 season finale. And it was more brutal and contentious that anyone expected.
Carl couldn't move past her constantly doubting his professional endeavors and accused Lindsay of gaslighting him and constantly "playing victim" in their relationship.
"You bulldoze me, you called me a loser," Carl told her. "You called me a little b---h, you called me a little baby, little mama's boy, 'run home to your parents.'"
"I don't think you trust me," Carl continued. "I think you think I'm gonna relapse. I think you want me to relapse. I think you want me to fall back so you can control me even more."
Lindsay's response?
"You want me to fight right now for this relationship? I'm not gonna beg you to be with me," she angrily replied. "There's no more point to this conversation, you've made the decision clear."
Lindsay proved she had officially moved on by announcing she and her new mystery boyfriend are expecting their first child.
"WE’RE PREGNANT!!!!!" Lindsay wrote on Instagram July 4 alongside photos of her growing baby bump and sonogram. "I truly believe the universe has a bigger plan and this is it!"
And although Lindsay continues to keep the identity of her daughter's father private, she told E! at the time, "We have a very sweet, caring and loving relationship that I truly cherish."
Days after revealing her baby news, Lindsay shared how she really feels about Carl finding out about her pregnancy.
"I'm sure he'll find out when the rest of the world finds out, but I'm not calling him up and having a conversation with him," she told People. "That relationship is in my past, and I can't really focus on my past anymore because I'm so focused on my present and my future.”
“To be honest,” she continued, “his emotions are no longer my responsibility. It's just not my problem anymore."
