'Kingdom' star Jonathan Tucker helps neighbors to safety during home invasion incident

Jonathan Tucker played the role of Good Samaritan when a safety concern emerged in his Los Angeles neighborhood over the weekend.
The "Kingdom" star came to the rescue of his neighbors Sunday after a home invasion incident in the Hancock Park area, a representative for Tucker confirmed to USA TODAY in an email Monday. TMZ was the first to report the news.
Tucker called police after the actor spotted a "suspicious man who was going around banging on doors and talking to himself," according to TMZ. When Tucker subsequently noticed his neighbor's front door was open, he reportedly went over to check on the residence.

Upon arriving at the home, the "Snowfall" actor discovered a woman and two children in distress, per TMZ, whom he escorted from the house as authorities made their way to the scene. The man who broke into the home was reportedly placed in a 5150 hold by police. A 5150 hold refers to the involuntary psychiatric hospitalization of an adult who is experiencing a mental health crisis, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency.

Tucker reflected on the incident in a statement to Los Angeles Magazine on Monday. The actor credited the swift response of law enforcement in resolving the situation.
"If you want a quote, call the LAPD because those guys are the real heroes. They put their lives on the line every day multiple times a day," Tucker told the outlet. "They responded within minutes, while I was still on the phone with a 911 dispatcher. It was an extraordinary response."
