Forever starts now for Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott.
Deschanel, 43, and "Property Brothers" host Scott, 45, are engaged after four years of dating, a representative for Scott confirmed to USA TODAY. On Monday, the couple shared a selfie announcing the news in which the "New Girl" star is holding up her left hand near her face with a massive new ring adorning her finger.
"Forever starts now!!! 🥰♾️🥰" the caption for the joint Instagram post reads.
Scott proposed Sunday during a family trip to Scotland, according to People, with Deschanel's children, Elsie, 8, and Charlie, 6 — whom she shares with ex-husband Jacob Pechenik — partaking in the couple's engagement.
Stars from Mindy Kaling to Melanie Lynskey shared their well wishes with the couple under the Instagram post, with "Yellowjackets" actress Lynskey noting, "What a beautiful ring too."
The beloved TV stars first met in August 2019 while filming a sibling-themed episode of "Carpool Karaoke: The Series," which featured Scott, his twin brother Drew Scott, Deschanel and her sister Emily Deschanel.
Scott told Access Hollywood in April 2020 that they had "instant chemistry." In 2020, he told USA TODAY that the COVID-19 pandemic sped up his nascent relationship with the She & Him singer. "I think we’ve essentially squeezed the normal equivalent of three years into one year because of isolation," he said. "So it’s been pretty great."
The couple has been head over heels since, sharing countless photos, memories and laughs through the years. "I have the best boyfriend in the world," Deschanel told USA TODAY in 2021.
The couple celebrated their four-year anniversary last week and posted loving tributes to each other on Instagram. Deschanel declared, "I love him more every day. I’m forever grateful!" in her post about "dreamboat" Scott while her now-fiancé made a "500 Days of Summer" joke over on his account.
"500 days of @zooeydeschanel …actually it’s been a lot more, but who’s counting anyway?" he captioned their selfie on Aug. 4. "4 years really flies by. Happy anniversary baby!!! 🥰"
