Taco Bell is celebrating the return of Nacho Fries nationwide by offering customers a new vegan nacho sauce that promises to deliver all the warm sauce goodness fans know and love but with a vegan twist.
Nacho fries enthusiasts will have to wait until Oct. 12 to purchase the vegan nacho sauce, but the traditional nacho sauce and fries were made available for purchase starting Thursday, according to an announcement from Taco Bell.
Taco Bell will also offer both versions of the Nacho Fries in a size large for the first time, going for $2.99. The regular size will go for $2.19.
The vegan nacho sauce has been certified vegan by the American Vegetarian Association just like their crispy seasoned fries.
The new menu item represents the company’s commitment to “provide food for all lifestyles.” Customers will also be able to enjoy Nacho Fries without compromising or customizing their order, Taco Bell wrote.
Almost a quarter of the food sold last year consisted of Taco Bell’s vegetarian products.
The company decided to make the vegan nacho sauce a signature component of the Nacho Fries package after the sauce was well received by customers trying out the Vegan Crunchwrap a couple months back.
“This sauce, born from the success of our Vegan Crunchwrap, represents Taco Bell’s commitment to providing delicious, craveable food for a variety of lifestyles – whether you’re vegan, flexitarian or want to try something new, there’s a place for you at our table,” Global Chief Food Innovation Officer Liz Matthews wrote.
